Your Marketing Attachment Style is..

The Attuned Dreamer

You're a prism

Attuned-Dreamer

Ordinary on the surface. Others might just think you a kind of paperweight– neutrally grounding the excruciatingly ordinary trauma embedded in the stories you hear one forty-five minute segment at a time.

Explaining what you do is a challenge–evoking people’s assumption that you’re either some all-knowing god who can see all the things they most want to hide, or just a kind of friend for hire.

Regardless of the projection, the result is the same.

They know you for the purpose you serve, rather than the person you are.

Who you are is so much more delightful than is easily explained in words–whether on a quiz results page or over appetizers at your partner’s work-thing.

You’re no paperweight, providing grounding in a chaotic world (though you do that too): you’re a diamond of first water.

You hold the light of the human heart, reflecting and refracting the spectrum of emotion.

Born in the shadow of unhealed pain, you learned to be a light for others' dark places long before you had words. You honed your intuition with the skill of a master jeweler, carving away the pieces of you that only seem to muddy the waters, seeking clarity at the expense of your whole self.

Relying on strategy (your favorite defense), you’ve built a practice that will ensure your survival–albeit, it's contingent on others’ healing.

If Bowlby could be stirred from death, he’d shrug and confirm what you already know–your attachment style is better described as disenchanted than disorganized.

(Also, don’t think I’ll let this parallel process you have with your favorite kinds of clients slide–I’m earmarking it to come back to later– so be sure to check your email.)

Speaking of how strategy rather than intuition directs your actions, can we go a little deeper about your marketing?

It’s not working for you.

Oh, yes, I know that technically it’s working (clients are showing up, you have a general sense of how you could fill an empty slot or two if you absolutely needed to).

tape (1)

But it isn’t working for you, because if it was, then:

Your caseload would be filled to the brim with your dream clients–you know, the ones you’re not so sure you’re ‘good enough’ yet to see

Your bank account would make a mockery of all the naysayers who urged you to stick with group practice or agency work.

You’d have a simple, doable marketing plan that took what you need and want into account, rather than just trying to stuff you into a cookie cutter rinse and repeat marketing model.

You probably wouldn’t be trying to figure out what your marketing attachment style is (you’d rest easy in knowing it’s secure and spend your time planning your next vacation paid for easily with last quarter’s profit payout).

And honestly, the fact that your marketing isn’t serving you, bums me out

What you offer clients is alchemically powerful–you walk alongside as they integrate their fragmented pieces into a kind of inner light that allows them to see into their darkest places.

I want others to experience your brilliance, but what’s more, I want you to really see your extraordinary giftedness, claim what it is you really want, and stop settling for what you think you can get.

The problem is, you’re a best kept secret, and your disenchanted marketing reflects it.

“The dreamers of the day are dangerous…for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.”

-T.E. Lawrence

There’s a story I tell myself…

about the REAL reason marketing isn’t working for you:

You’re ignoring that effective and ethical marketing is deeply relational.

And look, I get it, you know that marketing works–as long as you play by the rules designed by tech bros who’d do well to work through their own attachment trauma.

Your key takeaway has been that marketing requires a necessary sacrifice of depth in order to be effective. The algorithms rather than attunement seem to dictate what does and doesn’t work.

Wiser to spend your time and money honing your clinical skills than risk naming and asking for what you really want and facing the potential of rejection.

Except. You’re a better therapist than that. There’s no way in hell you’d let a client get away with such a BS excuse, and if you’re honest with yourself, you’re curious about this on-again, off-again thing you have going with marketing.

The dreamer your diamond-sharp ego seeks to mute, has a clear message that unsettles you:

You want more than what you’ve been settling for–clients who simultaneously challenge and delight you, a life that feels luxurious rather than hard-scrabble, and space to dream and play and just be.

Disenchantment prevents you from seeing the truth your gut knew long ago–marketing can be a reparative experience, one that would allow you to discover what it’s like to deeply attune to yourself and your desires, so you can show up as the person you are, rather than the purpose you serve.

Plus. You know. Save yourself time, make way more money, and revel in the ease of getting to work with the clients who can take in the best you have to offer.

You need to be willing to enter into a relationship that will call out your pretense of success and challenge you to dream deeper for yourself.

Hey there. I’m Jenn.

Champion curser, depth psychotherapist, and most pertinent for you–the relational marketing consultant for healers who are committed to attuning to the sorrows and the joys that wound our world, in hopes that love can transform everything.

Ainsworth would rightly identify me as disorganized in my attachment and my marketing has often reflected it:

I’ve been them all, and parts of all live within me.

Like Attuned Dreamers, I’ve revelled in how marketing is an avenue to rediscovering and integrating the parts I left behind in the name of survival.

As I’ve worked to integrate all my various parts, I’ve discovered something essential:

As much as I crave a linear, step-by-step marketing to-do plan, they’ve never worked for me. Who I am and what I want to do has never fit easily into other people's marketing strategies.

What I needed?

A step-by-step guide that would direct me in how to use my unique gifts as a therapist and show me how to walk into a life full of richer connection, deeper insight, and financial abundance.

And when I couldn’t find it?

I created it.
